It's LIT! 4 Arrests at DCMJ U.S. Capitol "Smoke-In"

4 Arrested at DCMJ U.S. Capitol "Smoke-In" Apr 24 2017 from Mike Flugennock on Vimeo.

After last Thursday's arrestees were freed after being jailed on obviously bogus charges, the activists of DCMJ took it to the Capitol steps this afternoon for their "smoke-in" civil disobedience to demand Federal descheduling of cannabis and an end to Congressional interference of DC citizens' right to make their own laws. Four activists were arrested for lighting up on the East Lawn of the Capitol.

US Capitol Police Harass DCMJ "Joint Session", Arrest At Least 6

US Capitol Cops Harass 4/20 "Joint Session", arrest several from Mike Flugennock on Vimeo.

Looks like we got more free publicity than we could handle today at DCMJ's "Joint Session" legal joint giveaway for US Capitol employees at 1st and Constitution Avenue NE, across the street from the Capitol.

Although they were set up on DC territory, on the sidewalk in front of the Reserve Officers' Association building, US Capitol Police chose to leave Federal land and come into DC to harass and arrest several volunteers involved in checking ID's and giving out joints.

Won't Somebody Think Of The Children?

When Uncle Sam starts waving the bloody dead children around, you know they're scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to lame excuses for war. It's a wheeze that goes back to World War I and earlier. It's as if they aren't even trying anymore.

Here's House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi -- a classic craven, crawling Democrat if ever there was one -- with just the kind of lame, basic horseshit that really sticks in my goddamn' craw:

Another Herblock Homage

...in which The Kid tries to "bend it like Herblock".

At the instigation of my old BBF and comrade Adam Eidinger at DCMJ, here's a Herblock homage depicting DC's special friends, US Reps. Andy Harris and Jason Chaffetz on the news that 60% of Americans surveyed now support legal marijuana (Gallup, October 2016), on the occasion of the April 24th Capitol Smoke-In.

Put A Fork In 'Em

So, despite a strong progressive groundswell for Keith Ellison, Clinton flunkie Tom Perez has been elected Chairman of the Democratic Party (as if it really matters), and he won the way you always win in the Democrats -- by kissing Wall Street's ass, sucking Israel's cock, and taking a big, steaming dump all over the Left.

This was inspired by a recently-tweeted nugget of gold from the John Podesta email leak trove, a snotty little fart by Perez in reply to one of the Hillary campaign honcho's missives.

So, how'd that "stick a fork in him" thing work out for you guys?

Heads up for April 24, and the big Reschedule420 protest, High Noon at the US Capitol!
Stay tuned at dcmj.org on the Web and Twitter for more details.

Meanwhile, here's a little quick something for the leafletters and wheatpasters out there.

Blast From Yer Past: "Humaniterrorism", June 1999

After that remix of some old Yipster Times cartoons went so well, I thought it might be fun to find some more BFYP candidates among my old cartoons from around the turn of the century. This one has always remained a personal favorite, and is also special because it promoted the first event I ever worked on with long-time comrade and BBF Adam Eidinger of DCMJ and Prop 71 fame -- the "Not A Victory Parade" protesting the US/NATO bombing campaign in Yugoslavia in the spring of 1999.

Peak Liberal

So, Liberals are telling us that the media who lied to us since forever are the friends of the People now, and so are the CIA.

OK, whatever, Sparky.

Aaaaaaaa-aand, that's all I've got for you on this hot mess right now, folks.

Love Didn't "Trump" Hate...

It's worth noting that in the current wave of protest following the Inauguration, the most effective and inspiring actions have been spontaneous and organic, organized and carried out by real grassroots outfits, many of whom were anarchists and other militant antifascists.

"Pussy Hats", smarmy focus-grouped slogans, a Facebook group and a 501(c)3 are not "resistance". Just so you know.

"New Blue" Dark Money Detergent

Oh, sweet friggin' jayzus, what are those wacky Third Way Democrats up to now? Why, they've launched another 501(c)4 "dark money" astroturf outfit, the "New Blue" campaign which, to most regular folks, sounds like a really good name for a brand of laundry detergent -- like, twenty million dollar laundry detergent.

Smokey the Bear, remix

Here's a quick one in solidarity with the dissident National Park Service employees running a "rogue" Twitter account on their own time to continue posting environmental information currently under lockdown by the White House.

This poster is a remix of a poster I did about 11 years or so ago, as part of an effort to inspire some local action in solidarity with the Rainbow Gathering being attacked by Forest Service police in West Virginia.

DCMJ sez "We Won't Go Back!" on Inauguration Day

"We Won't Go Back" #Trump420 Wash DC 01.20.17 from Mike Flugennock on Vimeo.

In what had to be the epicenter of chillaxin' that morning, over 8000 joints were given away legally under DC law by my good buds and comrades at DCMJ at their #Trump420 counterinaugural shindig at Dupont Circle, highlighting the strides made in state drug policy and legalization, and to welcome President The Donald to Washington, DC by declaring that "we won't go back" on the legalization of recreational and medical cannabis.

Dinnertime For Democrats

I'm at the point now where I'm thinking it was actually worth it all, just to finally see the Democratic Party having to eat its own dog food.

It's been two months since they lost, and those clowns are still at it -- shrieking, bitching, red-baiting, blame-shifting; it was the Greens, Wikileaks, the Russians, the Bernie Bros, the Russians, the non-voters, the Russians, the Russians, the Russians -- you get the idea.

My suggestion to all you Democrats out there is to quit your damn whining and choke it down. There's not a speck of cereal, you know.

DCMJ Says "Welcome to Washington, DC!"

DCMJ says "Welcome to Washington, 115th Congress", 01.03.17 from Mike Flugennock on Vimeo.

Yesterday, January 3, the DCMJ Welcoming Committee was on hand at Union Station to greet new and returning staffers to the incoming 115th Congress with leaflets and a little education on Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Trump's nominee for US Attorney General. This was followed by yet another jaunt up to Capitol Hill to Senators' offices to pass out a letter containing questions for Sessions' confirmation hearings, after which we adjourned to the DCMJ World Headquarters for a good old-fashioned rolling party in preparation for January 20.

We Won't Go Back!

We don't care what '80s nostalgia freak Sen. Jeff Sessions says, we're not going back to the good old days of "Just Say No"... and I'll add no more other than to say that you'll be glad you dragged your sleepy butt out at 8am to be at Dupont Circle to join DCMJ in standing up for legal marijuana.

Rally at 8am, march at 10am. Fans, BE THERE.
