So, as most of you know by now, Trump has
pardoned one of the most horrific excuses for a sherriff in US history, one Joe Arpaio, proprietor of the open-air concentration camp in Maricopa County, Arizona, who was convicted of illegally profiling Latin immigrants for arrest.
Ya gotta hand it to the Orange one; his timing was impeccable on this one -- handing down the pardon just as Hurricane Harvey was coming ashore on the Texas Gulf Coast at about 125mph, and thousands were evacuating inland -- including many Latin immigrants.
To add insult to injury, the Border Patrol and other immigration police
kept their checkpoints open to demand immigrants' papers as they fled the storm, leaving "illegal" immigrants in danger of arrest and deportation. Yeah, that's right -- the goddamn' La Migra were looking to nab immigrants in the middle of running for their lives. And to add even further insult, the mayor of Rockport, Texas advised anyone not evacuating to
write their name and Social Security numbers on their arms so that their bodies could be identified.
Where the Bush Regime's handling of the Katrina response was merely massively negligent, the Trump Junta's Harvey response is straight-up malicious. It's like the Katrina response turned up to 11.
