I can't pretend I'm not enjoying this. Don't ask me to explain why, but watching the Democrats faceplanting has been a guilty pleasure of mine for some years now.

The Democrats have built a stellar reputation on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, and this week's impeachment circus didn't disappoint. Caught Trump dead to rights instigating mob violence and an attempted putsch, and the Senate GOP told the Democrats to pound sand as per usual, leaving the Democrats once again stomping their little feet, blustering and whining like Joe Besser. 

Well, I just hope the Dems have finally gotten this shit out of their system. Maybe now that this shitshow is over, they can get to work getting us some decent COVID relief... and maybe some friggin' healthcare...?

Impeachment II: The Reheated

Well, hot damn diggety; nothing fills me with confidence quite like the poetic, sage pronouncements of Mr. Russiagate, himself. Meanwhile, Jamie Raskin is cementing his role as the Tired-Ass Cliché User In-Chief:

"...Donald Trump surrendered his role as commander in chief and became inciter in chief."

This hot mess isn't exactly going to be last night's lasange, that's for goddamn sure — and those of you who love leftover lasagne like I do know what I'm talking about, and I'm the goddamn Leftover Lasagne Lover In-Chief.

ZOMG Democracy!

We're hitting a record for COVID-19 deaths, unemployment is sky-high, another wave of evictions is hitting, the fascists are still running wild, the police are still mass-murdering Black people, but yeah — let's impeach Trump — and find some obtuse, other-worldly reason to blame Russia while we're at it, because what the hell. 

Cripes, how the hell does that even work? The guy's been out of office for nearly a week. If the Senate votes to convict, how do they punish him — revoke his Secret Service protection? Sieze his Federal pension? Prohibit him from running for office again? The "spanking machine"?

MSNBC commentators and guests this past week have been blurting out the word "democracy" so often you could play a drinking game; meanwhile QAnon, Patriot Prayer, the Proud Boys and the rest aren't just going to pack it in and go home because Trump's been bounced out of the White House...

Ceci n'est pas une banane

George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley, in a Los Angeles Times op-ed this week, gave us one of the most succinct and elegant analyses of the ongoing impeachment circus I've seen so far:

The Democrats have just voted to hand Trump horrific surveillance powers by reauthorizing the Patriot Act, and given him a $738bn war budget (including his Space Force), but he's still a Russian stooge and a threat to Democracy™, so let's impeach his ass anyway.

Don't Ask Us How We Know...

In the midst of the Democrats' exercise in wasting time and hoping people don't notice what a bunch of crying-ass losers they are — uhh, that is, the impeachment inquiry, Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal remarked that no inquiry was needed, and that "...People should stop looking for a secret smoking gun. Donald Trump is the smoking gun."

So, basically, the bunch who crashed and burned in 2016 and cratered with Russiagate are cooking up an impeachment "inquiry" that will probably drag out until the Conventions and telling us "really, trust us, we've got this, really this time. Don't ask us how we know, we just know, OK?"

So, now, folks... considering her enabling of fascism, her support for an obscene war budget, her desperate opposition to Medicare For All, and her bitter refusal to hold a criminal Executive to account – a tendency going back to Bush v2.0 – I have to ask myself: who are the "important fish" that Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are needing to fry?

Needless to say, yesterday's conviction of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort for tax and bank fraud made for what Liberals call "a juicy news day".

No doubt everybody in Flint, Yemen and all of Jeff Bezos' employees who are living in their cars are absolutely thrilled to pieces over this news.

Oooooh, LOOK! The FUTURE!

So, here we are hardly a week into this Shiny New Hope™ and Change™ Era, and we've already pretty much seen what The One and his Donkeycratic cohorts are all about: The Future. They want to move forward, move ahead, don't look back, don't stop thinking about tomorrow (MoveOn just wants to take another swig of Kool-Aid and – move on). They're so much about The Future, in fact, that they want to totally ditch the past – including their enabling of war crimes in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo, their role as accomplices in the destruction of the Constitution via USA PATRIOT, their endorsement of US-backed Israeli atrocities in Palestine.



Do you people – those of you who know who you are – honestly think the Donkeycrats will so much as lift a finger to bring the Bush mob to justice? Arrest Bush? In your goddamn' dreams. President Timberlake has kept Robert Friggin' Gates on as Secretary Of War, f'cripesake – not to mention that The One has also already gotten his hands bloody in Afghanistan and Pakistan this week. Does this look like the kind of guy who's going to raise so much as a murmur of objection to the crimes of the Bush Regime, anymore than he's spoken barely a whisper about US-financed Israeli war crimes in Gaza? Wake the hell up, US Left.

To bring Bush and the Gang to justice would require the Donkeycrats to admit to their own extensive complicity in crimes against the Constitution, international law, and humanity in general, crimes the Bush Regime could not have carried out without help from the Donkeycrats – kinda like the spot they found themselves in about ten years ago this month. To have impeached Bubba Clinton for his complete "rap sheet", aside from all that blowjob nonsense – murderous sanctions against Iraq, the continuous bombing of Iraq, the "Lewinsky Bombing" of Afghanistan and the Sudan, the two and a half months' continuous saturation bombing of civilians and civilian infrastructure in Yugoslavia – would have required the Donkeycrats to 'fess up to their having allowed it with barely a peep of protest.

In other words, don't hold your breath.

Remember Our MIAs!

And so, another year has gone, and it's fitting, I think, for us to remember The Missing, the MIAs. At every challenge to the Constitution and Liberty, The Missing were...MIA. When the time came to stand and fight for what was right, the MIAs were Missing, but not forgotten. Even today, with Freedom on attack from all sides, you can count on The Missing to be...MIAs. So, now, let us pause and Remember The Missing.



Indeed, remember the MIAs, so that they may never be forgotten, especially for those of you planning on participating in the next "election" -- if they think they "don't have the votes" now, just wait until next November. That's right, November, ten months away -- ten...long...MONTHS.
