At Last!

 

Despite the vaccine, we're still getting sick and dying in huge numbers out here. We're also still unemployed or trapped in shit jobs, or being thrown out of work, about to lose our homes. Some of us are already homeless and our poverty has been criminalized. Some of us are being murdered by the police.

In the face of all this, what's Priority One for the Democratic Party?

This Machine Kills Fascists

American protest-song legend Woody Guthrie was known for the sticker on his guitar reading "This Machine Kills Fascists".

However, the murder of unarmed Black Lives Matter protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin by Kyle Rittenhouse — and the ongoing assaults against unarmed protesters by armed fascist thugs — have led me to conclude that there's only one kind of machine that kills fascists — and it's not a guitar.

Just last night here in Your Nation's Capital, an off-duty cop shot and wounded a couple of people over in Southeast. Cripes, it's as if they get even worse when they go off-duty; what's the damn deal with that?

Broken Windows

Just a couple of nights ago, yet another black youth was killed by police in America -- this time in Milwaukee, touching off a night of rioting which featured the burning of a gas station and the smashing of windows on businesses and cop cars. And as usual, White America and the Boss Media were getting their panties in a twist more about broken windows than human lives.

For those of you who've been living in caves since the 1990s, "Broken Windows" has been a policing institution gifted to us by the likes of Rudolph Giuliani in New York City. Basically a pretext for the establishment of paramilitary police occupations of the poorest -- and blackest -- areas, it was such a hit that "Broken Windows" opened up franchises in pretty much every city in the US, spreading its brand of harassment, profiling, intimidation and brutality.

After observing this form of right-wing "folk wisdom" in action for over twenty years, I can't help but ask: whose windows are really being broken here?

Nice Shooting!

If you've noticed, in the past few years, that the behavior and tactics of American police resemble those of Israeli police and soldiers, you'd be right -- and these tactics have come into even sharper focus with the murder of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Minneapolis, Minnesota recently.

Military occupation tactics, collective punishment, terrorizing and brutalizing neighborhoods, shooting kids for throwing stones -- filthy, bloody Israel taught U.S. police everything they know.

Leave Bernie Alone!

Looks like "Progressive" America is still yelling for a WAAAAHHHHmbulance after a Bernie Sanders media event was busted up by #BlackLivesMatter. After months of Sanders failing to address the ongoing wave of racist police terrorism, #BLM took it on themselves to bring it up in Seattle -- much to the consternation of lily-white "Progressive" America.

Never mind that Sanders -- along with the rest of Liberal and "Progressive" America -- happily got on board with Bill Clinton's brutal assault on the Serbian people in the Spring of 1999. Never mind that after Nineleven™, Sanders just as happily voted to fund the assaults on the people of Afghanistan and the liberty and dignity of US citizens by the Department of Homeland Security. Never mind that Sanders has had little problem voting to fund Israeli barbarity in Palestine and the coup government in the Ukraine. Never mind that Sanders lobbied heavily for a slice of war machine pork barrel in Vermont in the form of a USAF F-35 base.

Never mind all that; "Progressive" America honestly still thinks that Sanders can bring this country the kind of revolutionary change it needs, so when somebody comes along -- especially black somebodies -- to call him out on his hypocrisies, all "Progressive" America seems to care about is that they're making Bernie look bad. "Why don't you disrupt Republican events?" they whine, predictably. "Why don't you disrupt Hillary's events?" they complain bitterly, crying, shrieking like that Chris Crocker kid in the infamous "Leave Britney Alone" video.

Alright, US Left, time for a little history lesson – and a cautionary tale. Can any of you out there name a single popular democratic people's movement for peace, liberty or social/economic justice which wasn't finally at some point infiltrated, co-opted and bled to death by the Democratic Party? Anybody?
